Alstein indeed stayed the night. We spoke for most of the time we were together because it is not like we would be able to sleep with all his shivering and all. As for why I wanted to sleep next to him, it was just out of curiosity. As an avid reader of the fantasy genre, I just wanted to confirm if a dragon’s body is really hotter than most beings. (A/N: Is this about the way his body looked or the temperature of his body? *winks*)I got my answer, of course since I snuggled next to him. He was like a damn furnace and he would surely be very useful during winter. He was stiff throughout the night thought as if he was scared to disrespect me in any way but he did his best to answer all of my questions. And it is not what you think, we were clothed and this is the first time I slept next to a man with no naughty agenda.
The next morning, he bid his goodbyes even before the sun rose. He has to return to Vlaelmundr for his duties as one of the "elders". I left him a few detailed instructions and the surprise on his face was quite evident. Even though he did not expect the task I gave him, he still confirmed that he will be helping me to make it happen as soon as possible.
I napped for a few hours after he left then simply woke up to have breakfast at the diner on the first floor of the inn. After that, I made my way to the Gale Barony for the official in-law visit. As for Xenos, he woke up an hour before me and has been constantly sending me updates on what he was doing but I know it was just his way of forcibly calming himself down.
As I was nearing the gates of the Gale Barony, I saw a man in fine clothes walking back and forth in front of the gate, nervously waiting for something or someone. When he saw me walking towards the gates, he ran towards me! If it was another person, I would have turned around and ran away since why would a grown man suddenly coming at me this fast?!
He stopped just a few steps in front of me as he asked loudly, "Are you Luna, my daughter-in-law? My name is Xaviel Gale. My mother is Baroness Xenia Gale." He nervously looked at me and all I could respond was a meek smile and a nod after experiencing such a high energy from his approach and speech.
He sighed in relief as he looked curiously around us and behind me. He must be wondering why I was alone. I smiled more warmly as I assured him that I will pick up Xenos in a bit once we are inside the Gale mansion. My father-in-law looked at me in confusion. Well, my answer would indeed be weird because he doesn’t know anything about my abilities but my actions later will explain everything anyways.
He put his arm around mine as he guided me excitedly into the inside of the gates then into the mansion. He was so energetic, totally opposite of the calm and reserved Xenos. Well, he also likes to prank and bully Aurum and the others when he is in the mood for it so I guess this is where he inherited all that energy from.
When we got into the mansion, it was eerily quiet. The only person in the living room was a lady quite advanced in years wearing fine clothes. With the human age as a standard, she should be at least 60 for sure. My father-in-law excitedly pulled me towards the old lady and introduced me. The baroness smiled back warmly then told me to sit and have some snacks. As for her son, he told him to calm down and sit beside her.
Instead of sitting, I told them that I have to pick somebody up real quick and promised that I will be back soon. The two humans looked at me in confusion but before they could ask questions, I disappeared from where I was standing and went straight to Xenos’ room inside the palace in Hoffen City.
When I opened my eyes from the teleportation and looked around, I saw several open boxes scattered on the floor with Xenos seemingly doing a final check on their contents. When he noticed me appear, he hurriedly ran towards me and asked me to check the gifts with him. Just looking around, I think he packed everything that he could think of and there was no need for me to inspect and tell him whether it was complete or not.
I hugged Xenos from behind and whispered to him that he does not need to be so nervous and that I am sure that his father and grandmother will like anything that he will be bringing in as gifts. He made a deep breath and I felt his tense body soften a bit as he murmured "okay".
I kissed him on the neck then he started to squirm to escape my embrace while complaining that it was not time for intimacy. He then ordered me around to pack all the boxes in our shared storage so we don’t have to carry anything heavy. I sneaked another kiss on his neck before letting go and packing all the boxes with a wave of my hand.
I then held Xenos’ hand tightly as we teleported back to the Gale barony. We reappeared in the same spot where I was standing on earlier so it was only a few steps away from the baroness and my father-in-law who was seated on the couch. Our sudden appearance shocked the two as I heard a short scream from both of them.
Realizing that I might have scared the two, I immediately apologized as Xenos slapped my left arm in frustration. I smiled at him sweetly and he simply rolled his eyes at me. He then turned towards his family members and introduced himself formally as if he was the in-law and not the son of the family. Well, he was trained on royal etiquette and it is already ingrained in how he speaks and carries himself.
The baroness and my father-in-law stood up and greeted him back formally. The trio all looked nervous as they smiled at each other shyly. I sat on the couch and the trio followed suit. There was an awkward silence for over a minute before I realized that I had to do something to break the ice.
